This story was written in 1994 by girls of the Eagle class at Maningrida Community Education Centre. Maningrida is an Aboriginal community on the coast of Arnhem Land, and the story, though fictional, presents an account of contemporary rural Aboriginal life. Tammy falls in love, fights with her boyfriend, is taken off to visit relatives in the bush and finally departs with her best friend to complete her education at Kormilda College in Darwin. Ages 12-16 years. by Pugh and the Sunshine Girls ; illustrated by Celia Adams.
